Dr Rudra Prosad Ghosh, is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Phaco-Micro Surgeon and practicing in the field of Phaco Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Comprehensive Ophthalmology and a Faculty in the West Bengal Medical education Service (WBMES). At present he is a Visiting Surgeon at Nemesis Eye Center, Kolkata, Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Fortis Hospital, Anandapur, Kolkata and having his own private practice in and around South Kolkata.
Dr Ghosh obtained his undergraduate medical degree and primary postgraduate degree from the North Bengal Medical College, and later got the FRCS in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK and from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He also passed the Basic and Clinical Science Examinations from the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO).
Dr Ghosh was awarded the prestigious Fellowship by the American College of Surgeons, FACS for his contribution in the field of Ophthalmology
He got his training in Cataract Surgery at the KG Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, India under Dr D Chandrasekhar and Dr Manoj Ramachandran. He also did his LASIK training under Dr Krishna Prasad K, at the Prasad Nethralaya, Udupi, India.
He was also awarded the Prestigious ICO/IFOS International Fellowship, and got the Training at the Uni-Klinikum, Regensburg University, Germany under Prof Peter Gabel and Prof Helmut Sachs.
Dr Ghosh shaped his early career at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Kolkata and actively involved in UG and PG teaching and Surgical training.
His academic involvement includes scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations in National and International Conferences.
Dr Ghosh is an active member of professional bodies like the All India Ophthalmological Society, Ophthalmological society of West Bengal, Delhi Ophthalmological Society, Kolkata Academy of Ophthalmology and the Indian Medical Association. At present he is the Executive Committee Member and Editor-in Chief of the JOSWB the official journal of the Ophthalmological Society of West Bengal.
